Would you like to start off the new year with exercise and the great outdoors? Your first opportunity is, appropriately, tomorrow! Hot Springs Village Basecamp will be participating in Arkansas' "First Day Hike" event, where people across the state will venture onto the wild trails of the state's many beautiful parks on the first day of 2016.
The hike for the HSV area is in Ouachita State Park on the Caddo Bend Trail. Participants will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Caddo Bend Trail head before setting off at noon on the strenuous 4-mile guided hike. The entire 4 miles is expected to take around 3 hours to complete. If you'd like to join the hike but don't feel up for the entire trek, a shorter, 1- to 2-mile hike may also be taken. Look for the Basecamp Trailer at the trail head. Don't forget to dress appropriately, and be sure to bring any food or water that you may need during the hike. No registration is required, but if you'd like to learn more then feel free to visit the Arkansas State Parks website for trail info and directions. The First Day Hike page for Ouachita State Park can be found here. Happy New Year!
