We have all had our lives changed by the COVID-19 pandemic in more ways than one. Including a rise in other respiratory infections like the flu and RSV. While some are comfortable returning to the gym others might still not and finding a space inside your home may be key to creating the best healthy lifestyle. Space inside a busy home can be a premium whether you sneak a workout in with your phone or tablet or you have a dedicated room with equipment. When looking for a home, making sure that there is a space for your needs may be an important part of the home buying purchase.
Having a dedicated room can be a benefit to the whole family. Personal work out equipment can take an incredible amount of space and if the items are encroaching on living space they may become items that gather dust and/or clothes catchers. Basement spaces are often a good option for an exercise area. It is important that these areas have adequate ventilation and proper clearance. You don’t want to be stretching your arms and banging your hands on the ceiling. Other options include a spare room or corner of a shared space. Spaces that have multiple uses such as doubling as an office area often work well in these cases.
The use of outdoor areas can’t be dismissed as well. Thankfully, here in Hot Springs Village there is an over abundance of outdoor activities and spaces. Trails, tennis and pickleball courts as well as the opportunity to trapse many excellent golf courses are all at the disposal of our residents. The summer months especially can be a great time to enjoy so many outdoors activities and with the somewhat mild winters we can also lend itself well to spending time in the great outdoors.
Once you find a spot to use within your home there is a plethora of online resources that you can access to aid you in your exercise journey. Also if you don’t have the space or monetary resources to buy a large piece of equipment then spending some money on weights and resistance bands can be a great addition to your routine. Also don;t dismiss common household items that can aid in your fitness journey. Anything from lifting a gallon of milk or even utilizing the steps in your home. These can all be a benefit to you.
