Hot Springs Village would like to caution the residents that Lake DeSoto is currently experiencing a harmful algal bloom (HAB) that was confirmed through testing by the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment’s (ADEE) Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ). They found that there is a presence of microcystin, which is a toxin that is often present in HAB situations. This toxin can be harmful to people and pets who are exposed to it.
