One of the premier events of the year for Hot Springs Village is about to get underway! Every summer, the Stars and Stripes Festival offers tons of entertainment for the community as we celebrate our nation's freedom. This year's festival will be no different, as there is a tremendous lineup of games, parties, music, and much more just waiting to be enjoyed. The festival officially runs from July 1 through July 4, although there are a couple of bonus activities scheduled for June 29 & 30 as well. Considering how many events are scheduled for the festival this year, there is sure to be something for everyone in the family!
The festivities kick off in June with the Twi-Night Tennis Team Party on June 29 at 6 p.m. Along with the start of the tennis tournament, June 30 will also feature a campfire sing-along with Mike Bearden at the Waypoint at DeSoto Marina from 7-9 p.m. Registration for the Twi-Night Tennis Tournament is due by tomorrow, so call 501-922-5054 for more information!
As the calendar flips to July, the festival really gets going with a loaded list of activities, parties, music, and other events!
On July 1, let your kids compete for prizes in the annual Kid's Fishing Derby at Cortez Pavilion from 8-11 a.m. Following the derby, enjoy a Balboa Beach Party until 3 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., BBQ & Blues gets started at the Balboa Pavilion! Your ticket to this event entitles you to savor mouth-watering pork tenderloin, potato salad, beans, coleslaw, a roll, and tea or lemonade while listening to blues performed by Studebaker John. July 2 brings plenty more fun to the table, including kayaking, tennis, a 5k race, and an ice cream social! Finish the night off right with the soothing sounds of the Village Big Band at 7 p.m.
July 3 is similarly packed with fun. The day begins with the anglers fishing tournament from 6:30-11:30 a.m. on Lake Balboa. Concurrently, you can see an aerial display from the R/C Flight Club starting at 9 a.m. on Balboa Beach. July 3rd will also include a miniature golf tournament and an event where you can meet and greet first responders such as police, firefighters, and EMTs. The day concludes with an outdoor showing of Independence Day at 9 p.m. on Balboa Beach!
Finally, the Fourth of July itself is dedicated to the fireworks! Witness an amazing display over Lake Balboa starting at dusk (around 9:15 p.m.).
