Burn Bans Lifted in Local Counties

Submitted by on

fire pitThe burn bans previously in effect in both Saline and Garland counties have been lifted. Most of Arkansas has been downgraded to a better situation. To see which counties are still under the ban, you can head here: https://mip.agri.arkansas.gov/agtools/Forestry/Fire_Info/Burn_Bans?show_districts=False and for wildfire danger areas, you can head here: https://mip.agri.arkansas.gov/agtools/Forestry/Fire_Info/Wildfire_Danger?show_districts=False.

Even though the burn ban has been lifted in Saline and Garland counties, there are still requirements for having a fire pit. Recreational wood-burning fire pits still require a Hot Springs Village fire department permit and are prohibited at rental properties. The fire department will visit your property to inspect the area and then issue the permit. To set that up, you can call 501-922-2210.

Here are some tips to keep recreational fire pits safe for everyone.

  • Keep the area around your fire pit free of debris and flammable items.
  • Only use firewood: burning leaves and other yard waste is not allowed.
  • Never leave a fire burning unattended.
  • Always make sure the fire is completely extinguished.
  • Be prepared for a need to extinguish the fire quickly. Keep access to water (garden hose or large bucket), dirt, sand, or a fire extinguisher nearby.

If you have any questions, contact the Hot Springs Village Fire Chief, Jason Miller, or the fire department.
