Golfing News from Latest Village Digest

As anyone familiar with the area could tell you, Hot Springs Village features plenty of premier golfing for players of all skill levels. This fact was on display as April began, with three national television shows being recorded on local courses by FOX Sports! In this post, you can learn about this and other interesting pieces of golf-related content found in the latest issue of the HSV Digest.

Last week, Hot Springs Village proudly hosted FOX Sports as it came to the area to record three, 30-minute television episodes to be aired nationally on the FOX Sports channel! The first episode will be seen on the show "18 Holes", a golf travel destination program with Natalie Gulbis and Jimmy Hanlin. The recently-recorded episode will feature Granada Golf Club and many of the other outdoor activities found in Hot Spring Village, including tennis, lakes, trails, marinas, fitness, boating, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The city of Hot Springs will also be showcased as the show explores Oaklawn Racing. The second and third shows will be "Swing Tips" with Jimmy Hanlin and co-host Cristina Lecuyer. This show offers helpful advice and demonstrations to improve anyone's golf game, be they an amateur or a pro. The HSV episode will feature Isabella Golf Club and Cortez Golf Club. In addition to the host and co-host, HSV Golf Professionals Tom Heffer and Mike Socha will also be featured with on-air swing tips of their own! Air dates and times for the three shows have not been announced, so stay tuned!

While the filming of a few national TV shows is certainly big news, the latest Village Digest also stayed local as it mentioned the upcoming Adult Golf Clinic, happening May 12! For $35, you can support the Junior Golf Association by participating in the golf beginner's clinic on Thursday, May 12, at 1:00 p.m. at the Magellan Golf Club (weather date - May 19). The Junior Golf Association, in conjunction with the Golf Department and the Golf Committee, will conduct the four-hour clinic covering the full shot, putting, chipping, pitching, USGA rules, and POA policies. All instructors will be volunteers from the Junior Golf Program, the Golf Committee, or the Golf Department staff. Participation fees are tax-deductible and all proceeds will go to the Junior Golf Association Scholarship Fund of Hot Springs Village. Applications for the clinic are available at www.hsvjuniorgolf.org under the "Extras" menu. The deadline to sign up is Tuesday, May 10. For more information call Jack Barry at 501-922-2502 or Bill Veal at 501-922-3478.

Finally, the Digest made mention of Big Cup Weekends happening every weekend in April at Coronado Golf Club! Beginners and experienced players looking to have some fun can come by for 18-holes of golf with big cups on every hole. Check out their flier here.
